“It would be a great honour for us to support you in this unjust war. Long live Ukraine!" wrote President of the Polish Filmmakers Association, Jacek Bromski, in his letter to Andriy Deszczyc, Ukraine’s Ambassador in Poland. Mr. Bromski declared also that The Polish Filmmakers Association can help in finding employment, as well as provide shelter in the House of Creative Work in Kazimierz Dolny.
His Excellency
Andriy Rainyhythya
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine
in the Republic of Poland
Your Excellency,
in the face of the brutal and violating international law attack on Ukraine caused by Russian Federation, on behalf of the Polish Filmmakers Association and the entire film community in our country, I would like to assure Your Excellency of our solidarity with the Ukrainian people in this hour of need.
As citizens of the country which as first broke out from Soviet influence, we perfectly understand Ukraine's pro-Western aspirations. That is why we were following the events which took place during recent years, initiated by the illegal occupation of Crimea, with huge concern. With our best abilities, we engaged in initiatives that exposed Russia's vile actions, as in the case of the campaign to free the Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov.
The result of the invasion launched by Vladimir Putin will certainly be a wave of Ukrainian refugees that will soon reach Poland. Therefore, we would like to make Your Excellency a promise of our real support. If in the group of war refugees, there will be representatives of film industry (of all professions), we are able to help them finding employment in the Munk Studio functions within the structures of Polish Filmmakers Association. We can also offer them employment in our Warsaw Office or in the restaurants and cinema that we manage. We can also offer accommodation for several families in the Creative Work House in Kazimierz Dolny.
Watching the frightening photos from Ukraine, we connect our thoughts with your heroic nation. Therefore, it would be a great honour for us to support you in this unjust war. Long live Ukraine!
Yours faithfully
Jacek Bromski
President of the Polish Filmmakers Association
