In the end of November 2020, the Adjudicating Panel of the Copyright Commission (AP-CC) issued decisions by which it refused to approve the remuneration tables of the collective management organizations (CMO) related to film screening in cinemas, but only due to formal considerations. CC arbitrators did examine the remuneration rates included in the applications submitted by CMOs. Those decisions are not final. »
The Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP-ZAPA) passed the audit of its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, which was carried out on 8 October 2020. The SFP-ZAPA is the only collective management organization that has held a Quality Certificate since 2007, without any interruption. »
On 6 October 2020, the Court of Appeal in Poznań dismissed the appeal of the IGHP (Chamber of Commerce of the Polish Hospitality Industry) against the ruling of the Regional Court in Poznań of 9 May 2019 that approved part of the remuneration tables for public performance of films and music applicable to hotels. »
The Parliament decided that providers of VOD services will pay 1.5 percent of their revenues as contributions to the PISF (Polish Film Institute) and those funds will be used for production of films, organization of festivals and for other film events. The relevant amendment to the Cinematography Act is part of the Act implementing the protective activities connected with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. This is a partial implementation of Article 13 of Directive 2018/1808 on audiovisual media services so it will remain in force after the pandemic is over. »
