ZAPA is one of the most successful collective management organizations in Poland. Since its inception, ZAPA has consistently strengthened its position in the copyrights market in Poland and its international position. It has negotiated and signed agreements with public and private users, cooperated with many national and international organizations and monitored the dynamic market of cable operators. The fundamental element of the ZAPA activity is proper identification of audiovisual works enabling quick payment of royalties due to their authors and producers, and supporting the fight against piracy in the trade of film works.

Polish creators and audiovisual artists are waiting for a law that will guarantee all filmmakers fair remuneration from the Internet and provide them with a level playing field in cooperation and negotiations with streaming platforms. This is guaranteed by the EU Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market, the implementation of which in Poland has already been prolonged, for reasons we do not understand, for many months. As representatives of the community of Polish actors and filmmakers, we are concerned to see that some representatives of the governing party put the interests of Internet platforms such as Netflix above the good of Polish culture. »
We are really pleased to hear that Netflix intends to share its profits with Polish filmmakers who collaborate with the platform. Each action supporting Polish filmmakers deserves praise. However, we are aware that this kind of one-off move is not a substitute for a good systemic solution. »
