Polish Filmmakers Association signs agreement with Sokol cinema

In a significant stride for the Polish film industry, SFP-ZAPA, in collaboration with ZAiKS, recently entered into a tripartite agreement with Sokół cinema, a member of the Association of Studio Cinemas. This partnership, established in late March this year, encompasses the four-screen Sokół cinema in Nowy Sącz, operated by the Malopolskie Centrum Kultury SOKÓŁ.

Under this agreement, which governs the payment of royalties from the screening of audiovisual works, settlements with the two collecting societies adhere to market-accepted terms, totalling 2.1% of all display revenues - 1.05% for SFP-ZAPA and 1.05% for ZAiKS.

Simultaneously, SFP-ZAPA has successfully resolved past outstanding royalty settlements with the cinema, ensuring the proper compensation of creators.

Presently, agreements with SFP-ZAPA cover more than 470 cinemas throughout Poland, constituting approximately 90% of the market. Notably, Cinema City stands as one of the largest cinemas yet to establish an agreement with SFP-ZAPA, showcasing the ongoing efforts in advocating for fair remuneration within the industry.
